Uniform Plumbing Code Chapters 1-5

This 4-hour continuing education course is designed to fulfill the code requirement for renewal of Idaho plumbing licenses. Topics include code highlights from the first five chapters of the Uniform Plumbing Code, outlined and explained by Master Plumber Lorren Schlotfeldt in an easy to follow video format.

Introduction to Sprinkler System Layout

This course is an introduction to sprinkler system layout. Students will become familiar with sprinkler hazards, sprinkler types, design area, and residential sprinkler systems.

  • Use the SxL rule to identify design area
  • Understand the reasons why sprinkler spacing affects the efficacy of sprinkler systems

First Calculation for NFPA 13D Systems

Instructor: Karl Wiegand

This course is the first calculation for NFPA 13D systems. Students will become familiar with calculating pressure loss from friction, the friction loss equation, and calculating water flow.

After completing this course participants will be able to:

  • Calculate pressure loss from friction.
  • Determine correct pipe length for an effective system.
  • Ensure adequate water flow for a residential sprinkler system.
  • Understand the requriements for NFPA 13D systems.

Plumbing Math

Instructor:  Josh Francis

This HD video course will walk you through the basics of plumbing math. Included are practice equations and formulas that you can work on independently. Topics include: bend angle conversions, temperature conversions, calculating offsets, pressures and more.

OSHA Safety

Instructor: Jenny MacDowell

This one-hour narrated course is a review of the OSHA standards based on 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for the Construction Industry, 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards, and 29 CFR 1904 Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses. These are the current enforceable standards for safety and health of employees in construction activities.

Students will be able to understand and describe the basic components of a construction safety program. They will recognize the hazards inherent at a construction jobsite and describe ways to prevent those hazards. Finally, students will learn the responsibilities of both the employer and the employee in observing established safety practices.
